Further news from Season 8

Two pieces of new caught my eye on IMDb today. The first being the figure in the premier whom we all thought was so mysterious and something other worldly or supernatural. Jim Michael’s has revealed on Twitter today that it was wait for it, drum roll ‘DON’ oh well, thanks writers for yet another suspicion and poor plot reveal out of the way. Its taken what a whole season and a bit to reveal.

Could the writers have pulled this off better?

Mysterious Figure watching Sam in 8×01-Mystery SOLVED.

The other bit of new is,

Lets face it–Sam simply did NOT look for Dean

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460681/board/flat/218261133?p=1

As JM reaffirms it was Amelia’s husband who was looking from outside at Sam in 8.01. It was no grand conspiracy that made Sam not look for Dean–Carver has said the same in the past.

I take it as the show has said and played it–Sam was devastated, burned out and without a clue…so he gave up. So get over it–Sam is human, he blew it and now even Dean is largely past it.

Was Dean really past it, had he forgiven Sam?

That said the show should have portrayed Sam’s devastation better and more explicitly–But that’s it…Sam is flawed like everyone else and that is what he did(or didn’t do).

———————————————————————————————————

So folks, I am not going to loose any more sleep over this, even though it deep down has really upset my emotions and how lazy writing it was. As we no he would have looked. After all our conversations, nothing usual has come from it. Was I surprised to learn that it was DON’ outside Sam’s not really as we had suspicions that it could have been him all along. ย So what do you think guys, about Sam and Don. Is it disappointing that our show has damaged a character or does this add more flaws to his character. Does this mature Sam, and what does this mean for Sam now, that he is uncaring, couldn’t care less and is rather selfish to boot. I hate to think this of him, but this but is this what were meant to see. Have there been bad plot holes during season 8, will this go down in history as one of those controversial grey area’s that fans will talk for ever about. Can I move on, yes finally its not ideal but have that confirmation which allows your brain to process it. I hope within the next two years they might redeem Sam, and help him through this, and show us he is reformed. And come to a conclusion about his actions. He apologized to Kevin, but Dean’s apology is brushed aside.

What do you all think, I no we have talked at length, but have you found it poor writing, or perfectly acceptable that they can change course. Bella would love to no…. ย Was it late in revealing this information or part of the course. Do we expect anything to change very much. Was Samelia really all worth the heartache it bought. Was it the best thing that Carver could have thought of since he was singing its praises. Please writers no more love interests for season 9. I could not bear another Amelia. So Sam, what are we to learn from this any further input before this story is finally put to bed.

  1. I get why you guys were angry that Sam didn’t look for Dean. Because Dean was mad about that.. Let’s face it, we’ve been saying from the beginning, that Dean is the heart of the show and so whenever Dean is feeling something (outrage that he wasn’t looked for) the fans feel it too. I’ve been noticing that for a while.
I love how we really dig deep when we need to, and its done me good too to go back and watch older episodes, and yes you do see a familiar pattern between the boys. Your right as I did feel so bad for Dean, and as your saying that’s what the writers wanted us to do. So they did their job. Its a plot device in itself just as characters are ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don’t know if the fans have noticed that’s what they do but when Dean is happy, fans tend to be happy too and it doesn’t seem to matter whether you are a Sam fan or not either.
I noticed this particularly with nurse maid Dean, and butler Dean when Sam was sick, I have at other time in the past, but not as much or as more evident as in those scenes during the trials. As we said and barb pointed out, Dean is the engine and Sam is the fuel.

Also it seems to not have occurred to anyone that because Dean was upset about it, you guys were meant to be upset too. It was deliberately written that way. The writers knew exactly what kind of emotional whiplash they set in motion when they wrote it.
I love you for pointing this out Ikeke as sometimes you think your going round the bend, when plots are not so obvious to yourself. I am not as upset as I was a few months ago as its all beginning to sink in, and mean something. Before it was just a jumbled mess.

I never got invested in that particular plot point because I knew that that was exactly what it was. Something they had Sam do so they could make it payoff later in the season. The payoff for that was that heart wrenching scene in Sacrifice with Sam confessing that he’d failed Dean, yet again. Would that scene have had as much emotional impact if you guys hadn’t been so mad at Sam for not looking for Dean?
I remember you saying about this leading some where and we had to see it pan out, and you were definitely right. I am happier over this end result now. ๐Ÿ™‚ I could kiss you … I guess this is why we also have the angst, we need the angst to drive the car, and make it work. That’s another piece of info to tag onto barb’s analogy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Very true! If we didn’t feel what he feels we wouldn’t be watching!

It is good writing, its just taken us a while to figure it all out. Roll on season 9, this summer appears so long…. I need my fix ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I put both Sam’s not looking for Dean and Amelia’s substitute for Dean to bed long ago. Amelia was a plot device and she is gone gone gone. Don looking in on Sam and Amelia’s normal life was akin to Sam looking in at Dean, Lisa and Ben’s attempt at normalcy. Both Sam and Don had to decide if they would enter into those worlds to disrupt and they both did. I cannot blame the writers for not fleshing out both issues as there are limits to what can be squeezed into the time of an episode. Same can be said of Dean’s PTSD. Those details are for the discussion of characters’ motivations and back stories. JC has said all along that Sam was just being human. I do hear that Dean gets some “action” in season 9 but not a love story.
Debbab, well put, I understand your logic thank you. So basically season 8 is a copycat version of domesticated Dean season 6 which was what I did think. ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is for me a lot easier to understand and familiarize myself with, and no one on the forum has come to this conclusion at all. They are bleating about the writing and that it should have been fleshed out. To some extent I do agree. But as you’ve clearly said they have a time frame, and only have so much screen time to fit it all in. So season 8 hasn’t been that much of a disaster as a number of fans feared. Sam was in shock and guess this is always what I will put those actions down too. But what about Kevin and the phones, any logical theory on this chain of events.

I agree and have been saying this FOREVER!

I will from now on put this down to poor writing, apologizes in advance writers, but its a poor job of Sam’s nature. It just something I found very hard to stomach. But as time moves on, I guess I will learn to live with that fact that Sam never looked for Dean, because he saw him imploded in front of him, and he ran. But what is their excuse over Kevin and the phones? He did apologize to Kevin, but sadly not to Dean, and I think that’s what we all wanted to see and hear ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I am very disappointed in our writers. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ….. very sad
