Angels and Demons?

Since I’ve been re-watching episodes this summer, I have picked up on one similar pattern. I think I have talked about this before but not in such detail to relevant episodes. Firstly I recall watching the episode Lucifer Rising, Season 4 where Dean’s phone message to Sam is rigged. Now a debate has often ensued on the forum and to this day I am still not 100% sure who actually interfered with it. If it were Zachariah or in fact Ruby. Now I have a feeling I will plump for Zac as Ruby says ‘Thank God’.  Zachariah also when he kidnaps Dean is keeping him away from Sam. Both parties appear to want the same thing. They wanted the Apocalypse to go ahead?

Both parties appear to want the same thing.
They wanted the Apocalypse to go ahead?

Also during Heaven and Hell season 4 Angels and Demons are supposedly lead to the barn by Sam with Ruby’s help. Now this moment we tend to view the scene that these guys actually hate the mere sights of each other, and hate being in the same vicinity and we clearly view this as an awful act. The demons throwing abusive language at the angels and vice versa. But I often kept thinking was this actually a smoke screen. Were the writers trying to fool us into thinking this. That these two factions in fact actually get on behind the scenes and plot to blow up the earth, or take over it for their own pleasures.

What were both parties really up to?

Sympathy for the Devil Season 5 premier, tonight got me back to thinking about Angels and Demons once again. God gets Sam and Dean out of trouble and onto that plane. Then we notice that Bobby is possessed by a demon. Why had the demons possessed Bobby for what gain? Were they trying to kill Dean to prevent him from saying yes to Michael? The angels were hunting the boys down to try to get Dean to say yes in being Michael’s true vessel. Also when Dean is talking to Bobby in the hospital he blabs a load of dialogue at Bobby about his plan, and GED crap.

Why had the demons possessed Bobby for what gain?

Other scenes have sprung to mind where both parties are appearing to work along side one another. Both appear to want similar goals, and for the same ends. Is this the writers intentions to get us to think they hate one another, when all along they are in fact in cahoots. Cas also picked up on a point during season 8, saying that the Heaven and Hell tablets were connected, so I guess if they closed one door, it would close both area’s off. Angels and Demons have always played a huge part in this show, and never more so than now. If they are actually working together, have the boys got more on their hands than they first thought. I was also lead to believe that demons were actually fallen angels. So with this knowledge fueled my theory even more. But why?

Cas and Crowley have worked together in the past,
and it didn’t work out. But was there more to their partnership?

So do any of you think it could be possible that Angels and Demons are some how working in perfect harmony, and both parties have possibly their own hidden agenda’s in case all backfires. Would love to know what you think and if its a big thought in progress, or not?

  1. Just saw the trailer for season 9 complete with music from AC/DC. Angels make large pot holes when they fall on cities. Also the gag reel for season 8 is up on you tube. 8 minutes of cute but not as silly as past ones.
I saw one clip the other day on the forum, not sure if its the one your talking about. It was so short in length, blink and you miss it. The gag reel on the forum also felt longer than eight minutes worth. Felt like 15 and in its entirety. As the poster was surprised it was all out for us to view so soon.

I tried to wait to watch till I got my dvd’s but I couldn’t! I didnt think it was as funny either but maybe I will change my mind when I watch it on a bigger screen 🙂

Barb, I’m glad I’m not on my own in thinking this. Maybe its because we’ve seen so much of them, its becoming too familiar with us. Don’t know what it is. Its not bad, its better than previous seasons. Particularly the brave heart moment.

      1. maybe the actors just don’t make as many mistakes 8 years in. There are some smiley moments to enjoy. It seems like more Jensen than Jared goof ups this time and oh yes, his baby daddy, Misha.

  2. It may have not been God who helped Sam and Dean on that plane. It very well could have been Michael. Just a thought! 🙂
Me like this idea 🙂 But didn’t Cas say to Zachariah that he knew it was God that put them on the plane and that he should be frightened? But I could so see Michael protecting his vessel and getting him out of Zachariah’s way to safety, even though Dean continued to say NO!

Im pretty sure Joshua said to them at one point who do you think put you on that plane, when they were saying that God didnt care or help them.

      1. “But didn’t Cas say to Zachariah that he knew it was God that put them on the plane and that he should be frightened?” As much as I love my Cas I have seen enough of SPN to know that sometimes Cas really doesn’t know what he thinks he knows and that the Angels lie lie lie if it will serve their own purpose. He seemed very stoic and programmed since his first appearance. I wouldn’t surprise me if that whole Angel mind control wasn’t the start of a big plot development. I have thought since the intro to the angel programming that maybe……just maybe Cas rank wasn’t always so lowly. Maybe at some point he was demoted and wiped clean mentally. This would also kinda explain how he seems to get stronger each time he is smited. He seems to have an inherent weakness for humanity. Seeing as how Anna and Uriel have said God went AWOL a long time ago could it be that Cas had something to do with that? 😀 My imagination goes wild! *finally got my WP account working again!*
As angels appear to be programmed, may be these programs can be altered to suit accordingly. Cas always did come back from the dead much more juiced up than before, and always had me wondering why, and most importantly by whom? Who was in charge of their re-programming?

Im pretty sure when Dean and Sam were in heaven looking for and finding Joshua Dean said something about how God doesnt help them and Joshua said he helps more than you think, who do you think put you on that plane? Im pretty sure Im correct in this.

  3. I agree with Debbab. The agendas for angels and demons are different. During seasons 4 & 5, each team wanted their leader to win the apocalypse. Just happened that neither side cared about the human race. Lucifer really did not want to fight Michael. He would have been content to have a truce which included getting rid of the human race. A lot of the angels, especially Lucifer, hated the creation of mankind and the fact that angels were ordered by God to bow down to us. According to the Bible, other angels were cast out of heaven along with Lucifer. Those fallen angels were probably the first demons. Probably not SPN canon (right now) but biblical fact. So there are some demons that never had human souls. Could be that the Knights of Hell are those fallen angels.
Yes, this is so true, when I think how they really disliked us humans. Which surprised me in a was why they wanted humans as vessels? The more I think of that thought that is wired. If Sam and Dean were chosen way back when I guess the angels liked us a bit more and went along with it. But if they really disliked humans, why did they pick the boys? You often think of angels as the nice guys, but even they didn’t really care for us.

I have stated before that the writers during season 8 did a poor job of keeping up with their own history. SPN: Please hire folk who actually watch the show!!!!!!
I so agree, at least two spring to mind. That’s the trouble with hiring so many writers, and delegating a big story to so many people. Eight years is a lot of history to keep a track of …

      1. Hi Barb!

I think most angels believed that they were better than humans but obeyed the word of God. On the show, most of the angels acted superior to everyone except for Castiel and Anna. Even Michael did not appear that warm to Dean. He was just following orders. I think that demons and angels must take human form in order to communicate with humans. In the Bible, the angels that were ordered to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah appeared in human form. They might not love humans, but in order to carry out God’s commands in dealing with humans, angels must assume the form most likely to achieve results. If we, the fans, know the history of SPN, the show can do a much better job of hiring writers that know and love the show. I have read some fan fictions of very talented and gifted writers that could absolutely do a fabulous job with the show. We care about the show, perhaps more than those responsible for keeping the show alive. Soap Operas have 20 plus years of history and their writers somehow manage to keep it straight. I do not like silly, avoidable mistakes that bleed through this fabulous show. It is unprofessional.
I don’t often read fan fiction, and some have even asked me to have a go. But I think who would read it. Its only for this mass market. I love how we all care so deeply for this show, and look at pick up canon when its not right. These guys are so clever and rock they should write for the show and give some of our writers a run for their money. I miss the writers of old, and hope one day they might come back. I still don’t know how soap writers manager to keep tabs of all those stories and their shows history over many, many years. Its a tough job.

  4. Angels have their agenda. Demons have their agenda. Sam and Dean want to save humanity from them both as each agenda involves pushing aside humans. Both use humans as meat suits and usually for nefarious efforts. Both would like to rule Earth and dominate.Sometimes agendas intersect. Both demons and angels seem to be pre-set. Humans in contrast, have free will.
Canon: Demons are not fallen angels. They were humans, sometimes witches, who made deals with other demons, go to Hell, and after years of torture become demons themselves. Think back to shape shifter Dean’s comments to Dean. Lucifer is a fallen angel direct from Heaven. Our new fallen angels were not kicked out by order of Almighty but by a crazed, vengeful Metatron. Earth is getting pretty crowded with humans, angels, and demons. Naomi and Crowley a fling? Maybe it was a reference to competing agendas rather than a fling. Don’t think she is Crowley’s type- he goes for tall, long haired beauties, er Sam. More later.

I always got this point. Yeap, memory not so great these days, I got mixed up. So this still confuses me if Crowley is a demon and his mother is a Witch. Any thoughts on this one? I thought it was rather convincing when their eyes met in a dark crypt. I can imagine Crowley sleeping with any women type or not 😉 If it meant his agenda was met. Tall, long haired beauties er Sam 😀

    1. Crowley will be with anyone if it suits his agenda as long as he can wear an expensive suit. He is occupying the meat suit of a literary agent. This is his most recent meat suit. We are not sure who he was wearing when he was with Naomi back in the day. Still troublesome that Fergus McLeod was his original name and that was after Mesopetamia. Me thinks it is either a continuity error or time travel. These nasty little bits often get lost because the banter is so quick. Truly he has a massive man crush on Sam- maybe its the phermones given off by demon blood that he finds attractive. He seems to tolerate Moose and finds Squirrel annoying. Demons lie, cheat, do just about anything to meet their agendas. Crowley is a natty dresser, though.
Yeap, that’s our Crowley. That’s very true actually, as you tend to think he might be wearing the same vessel. So any time in seasons to come Crowley might even be different, no Mark 😦 More than likely continuity error. Its wired the notion of Crowley finding moose attractive. I can’t wait to see how these two get along next season, especially since Sam is interrogating him. I love how he clearly defines his not so liking for one brother over the other. Not sure what you mean by the word natty, as in dresser. Do you mean smart or untidy?

      1. Smart dresser. Crowley has worn Mrs. Tran as a meat suit so other forms are within canon.Sam is still determined to find out more about the cure’s effects on Crowley so not too sure Sam is going to be gentle with Crowley, but Crowley will surely love the one on one attention from Sam.
Got you, just wondered what the word meant. No I can’t see Sam being gentle with him either. If Sam is so gun hoe about this mission, softness I don’t think will come into it. I don’t think his too worried about his host either as he is hundreds of years old. So Fergus would probably be long gone by now 😉 Yeap Crowley will sure beat the hell out of his one to one with Sam and play moose frequently. Not sure where Squirrel will fit into this occasion, poor Dean 😦 Dean may use his fists now and then.

  5. Didn’t Crowley and Naomi have an unspoken agreement that they would swap tablets if she got the demon one? Don’t know if that’s a memory or just me!
You know what you might be onto something there. Good recall. Both had a supposed fling together too which I’d forgotten about. I wonder if I am right?
