Is Mrs Tran still ALIVE?

Very quick question tonight folks, do you think Linda Tran is still alive, or did Crowley kill her off, or the writers have a plot hole on their hands, any thoughts ….

  1. Crowley told Kevin that he was able to locate him through Mrs.Tran. She was tortured and did not give up her son, but then Crowley says he had her killed and somehow found Kevin’s location through her (soul perhaps with a possession prior to death?). I believe she is gone, gone, gone. Kevin had lost everything by season 9, even Dean’s protection to some degree. He was working so hard to close the gates of hell so he could go back to normal, but that ship had sailed. He became a strong adult in season 8 when he fought Crowley, but still required Dean’s protection. Dean misjudged the bunker’s protection and the enemy from within possibility since Sam is his Achille’s heel. So unless the writers had a reason to bring back Kevin, who is more central than his Mom, I think Tiger Mommy is gone, gone, gone.
Didn’t Crowley possess her and that’s how he new about Kevin? But Crowley could have been lying through his teeth, we know demons lie its their nature. It doesn’t look too hot for her re-appearance I have to admit. But Cas could bring Kevin back, and he could be reunited with his mum if the show wanted to go there. But in hindsight I do believe she’s gone, gone, gone. Wasn’t there a song lyric with those exact words?

    1. Yeah, I agree. I really liked her too. More than I liked Kevin, really. I’d be okay with her coming back, but wouldn’t she be soulless, if she did?
That’s a good point actually, I’d forgotten about her selling her soul at the auction. She would be. I thought she was really sassy, confident and knew how to handle herself I really liked her a lot. Shame she only had a short time on the show.

      1. So many plot holes that would have to be fixed with not a major player in the current arc so unless she comes back as a big bad (they wouldn’t dare torture Dean with her or Kevin’s ghost would they?(( they did with Jo)). We do have to prepare for Garth’s return- what if he saved her? That is our only hope. What has he been doing all this time?
I doubt if Garth is that bright to have saved her or even thought of her. Garth isn’t up to much, maybe they’ve bought him back to kill him off. Most of them have been done in, he’s the only one left. What real use is he except being a pain up the rear. Sorry folks, he really does irritate me and cannot warm to the guy at all. I have tried, but without much success. It maybe possible but I’m not holding out much hope. I bet it will be another plot hole they leave dangling.

        1. Okay now, I like Garth but that’s just going too far. A Ms. Tran/Garth team-up! That’s just horrifying. 😀
I’ve got to agree, Mrs Tran is in a different league entirely to Garth. Now Dorothy is a different kettle of fish altogether. I could see those two working together.

Dream root, ha now there’s a mind I bet the boys wouldn’t want to delve into. But the one pairing I thought would have worked and they didn’t go any where was Garth and Becky Rosen. Now either of those I cannot get on with. Their both as dipsy as each other and would have been well suited.

One does try you no 😉

I actually don’t mind the guy. What happened between you and Garth? Where did it all go wrong? Was it that first impression?. Its okay you’re not the only one he bothers. Quite a few people find him irritating. I like him because I’ve seen that actor in a lot of other shows and just happy to see him on his one.
I had a feeling I new of the actor but wasn’t sure where I’d seen him and still don’t recall. The name just rang a bell. I just don’t feel he fits it to a hunters life style. He acts so stupid ALL the time and when he’s ever knocked out he stands up and replies ‘what did I miss.’ He cannot get through a hunt scene without being knocked out. He acts all big and brash, has a huge ego complex that irritates me to death. I just don’t feel he fits in this show. He just rubs me up the wrong way. He’s comic relief at best. If I am totally and brutally honest I wish they’d got rid of him instead of Kevin, as Garth does nothing for this show.

Speaking of other actors… if you guys get the show Justified overseas, Jim Beaver was on there last season playing a cop (country constable). I normally watch the show and was surprised and happy to see him again.
We do in the UK but again Jim Beaver is not my favorite and wouldn’t really go out of my way to watch him either. Jim was one of the few actors I new before I saw this show and don’t get what people really see in him either. I guess I miss John Winchester so much and feel he took the spotlight away from John.

              1. Oh man! You and I are going to butt heads on John. I couldn’t stand him. I like the drama he brought to the episodes and the actor was top rate but John was a total jerk that I really wanted to give a good smacking to. I still like his presence for the guys to play off him because that’s part of what made season one so compelling. I wouldn’t be put out if they brought him back even though I don’t like him. He’d be very interesting anyway. If he knew the kinds of things they’d gotten up to in his absence his head would explode though.
John was a jerk sometimes. He wasn’t the typical father he had issues. But he loved those boys and maybe went about things a bit to far. There was something very mysterious about John particularly after he paid a visit to that physic Missouri. He did abandon the boys for long periods and left a lot on Dean’s young shoulders. But boy that man was sexy!! 😉 I was heartbroken when the writers did kill him off. But then Sam and Dean would never have been on their own which was what the show is all about. I did like John a lot. Please don’t butt my head I’m fragile!! 😉

As for Garth, he’s just pure comedy relief and not a good hunter but that just makes Sam and Dean look that much better next to him. He’s a ridiculous character that says crazy things and since I consider the funny episodes to be some of my favorites he fits into those okay. The writer’s have been pretty good about keeping him away from the serious myth arc episodes which is a good thing.
I am so glad you said he’s not a good hunter. I think your the first that’s ever agreed with me. He’s CRAP!!!! Small doses like once a season is enough for me, and that’s pushing it. How they’ve kept him on, and not Kevin is beyond me. At least Kevin worked hard for the boys and got them out of sticky situations. What’s Garth ever really done. ‘You’ve been GARTHRED I could SCREAM!!!!!!!!! He is comic relief at worst. I still don’t think the guy can really act either. I want to see mature guest stars like the old days. Not silly little prats that pounce around and not do very much except act stupid. This show is worth more than that.

I agree! I like him in very small doses. One or two episodes a season is plenty for me.

That is a good point actually. They have kept him out of the myth arc and that speaks volumes in its self. So I wonder if he’s on his way out? I could never see him as a replacement for Bobby’s old job, so what could he really do in the boys world? They tolerate him at best. So why continue flogging a dead horse. (you no what I mean, not a real one)

                  1. Just wondering if the writers are going to continue to use Garth as comic relief to offset how serious the Winchesters are as hunters or if they are going to change direction and tell us that in his time away from the boat, he has become a better hunter. Now nobody can replace the cranky Bobby Singer, but someone does have to answer the fake FBI line. As both Winchesters have mentioned his character in season 8 and now 9, it would be an opportunity to see if D.J. Quails can go beyond goofy Garth. I have seen him act on another show where he was confined to a wheelchair, but the role was still rather goofy. As I have said before, he is not everyone’s cup of dream root. Season 9 is so, so serious at the moment, I am not sure how his goofiness would be accepted, so writers be careful.
He has slightly become a better hunter. Whether that’s been in the presence of Sam and Dean we can’t be sure. I think he’s best of as comic relief. We need lighter parts between the heaviness of the myth arc related episodes just to break the strain. But is he really the guy to draw us in. If he was something other than a hunter I could probably believe him. But up to now his days for me are numbered. He is no where near Kevin’s league of intelligence or likability. I don’t think he’s popular among the fan base any way so why are they keeping him around. If he was eye candy, that might be a possibility, but no offense DJ your not in that department. I can only stand so much goofy Garth. If he can show me serious Garth, then I might be prepared to over look it. But that would have to be sterling workmanship to come close to that.

However Dean does not think he can handle Sam’s situation by himself does he? An alliance with Crowley okay but what is plan B since Crowley is not trustworthy? Can Garth actually help the Winchesters? He too has been an unlikely source of information – see “Southern Comfort” and as portrayed he has no secrets or anger. His first hunt was the tooth fairy so of course he is scarred. And yet he has formal education as a dentist so there is that aspect. He proves that you can have a college education and be a hunter. How could he be as good a hunter as the Winchesters? He did not have John. SO what made him go into the field as a hunter? Again, the writers have an opportunity to broaden the character but I am not sure fandom would accept it. Can Garth read Enochian? Jaw dropper or groans of unavailability? As far as Becky, I didn’t find it all that funny except for a few scenes- she cannot stop touching Sam, but mainly it was poking fun at some fans a bit harshly IMO.(I hear some fans are stalker like, but that most SPN fans are respectful.) Seeing Sam tied up to a bed drugged, sort of over the line creepiness for the sake of satire. It doesn’t work for me male or female. I let it go long ago. It didn’t work out for her with Chuck either. I liked the editor lady of the Supernatural books written by Chuck and she was only in one short scene. She may have been dressed edgy but her heart was devoted to the Winchesters and not as fickle as Becky’s. Oh hiatus when will thou depart?
I couldn’t see Garth as a dentist, though could you? I don’t think Garth can read Enochian he probably wouldn’t even know what it was let alone decipher it. This was why I didn’t get why they killed off Kevin. Maybe because he’s too useful and knows too much!! ‘Southern Comfort’ Garth did deliver medium smartness, but still not crowd pulling material. Becky is a different character all together. I think they went too far with Becky, and poked fun at fans to closely for me. That’s why I can’t stand the character. She really was stalkerish material. But there were the odd occasion where I did actually feel for Becky and did wonder why the writers put her in that situation to begin with. I found her too gushing and very annoying. That character was okay, but as you said her dress sense was a little cheap. We only have 8 days to endure, so not long now angels!!! You can breath soon… 🙂

              2. Bobby was a different type of father figure for Sam and Dean. Although he opted to not have children with Karen, his wife, and then she became possessed and he had to kill her, it broke her heart. Bobby did normal stuff with Sam and Dean like playing ball, while John was out hunting, so he softened some hard edges for them. Maybe he kept them focused on the saving people part. Maybe he stopped them from becoming psychotic killing machines (Dean is close now). He was a walking encyclopedia of weird masquerading as the town drunk. I see the character as a surrogate dad but not in competition with John. Dean loses it when Bobby gets killed, but ultimately knows he has to let go for Bobby’s sake. It was almost a right of passage into full adulthood and responsibility for Dean and Sam. They only have each other as comfort b/c other family can’t stay around too long (Charlie, Kevin). It’s how the show is set up to be. Jim Beaver is in a new Price Line commercial called “I reckon”. Heard the voice and yep, there he was all scruffy and Pure cowboy Jim. He also has a new movie he has started to film. Love him or not, he has been important to creating Bobby Singer.
I wouldn’t say I hate Bobby, I just don’t warm to the man. We each have our own favorites and why they are our favorites. John was first on the scene, which to me in the pilot spoke volumes rescuing his sons from a house fire and taking them to safety. The boys needed a father figure in their life once John departed to heaven. But was JB the right kind of guy. We know he’s the village drunk as Sheriff Mills has pointed out to us in the past, so Bobby hasn’t a role model type personality to really shelter the boys. Bobby had lots of qualities I’m not denying him that. He was way more knowledgeable than the boys and possibly John put together. He was a hard working man, and saved lives even though he adored the hard stuff. As you said he wasn’t in competition with John, but sometimes I think if John had lived long enough to see his boys grow up into men how different would they have been. Any different to the way Bobby had seen them grow up? I admire Bobby for being loyal to the Winchesters considering him and John didn’t really hit it off. Bobby cared for Sam and Dean as if they were his own flesh and blood. I still really can’t pinpoint why I can’t warm to him, when I know he’s done so much good. Perhaps I do feel jaded that he has taken away John’s glossy father persona away. Its not jealousy but I do miss the old bastard.

            2. Strange pairings continued! Abaddon and Metatron against the Winchesters. Evil to evil. Now what if Sam’s conscience/soul has been placed in Garth’s body to protect it while Gadreel does his thing with Sam’s body? That’s a pairing of a different sort. Just thinking.
I remembered last year about wanting the portal to reject Cas and they made up some ball story about Cas wanting to stay behind. It would have made far more sense as Cas’s hand slipped away from Dean. But I like the sound of your theory being possible. I could see it working. But I think that is way to advanced for our writers to think of. Which is so sad, as that could be a real wacky story line.

I did at first think it was a bluff, now since Kevin’s demise I still think its a bluff. But in-between I slightly did wonder if Crowley was laying it on thick with a shovel. I doubt if they will return to that story line any way now Kevin is no longer 😦
