This has probably been on most of our minds when Sam eventually finds out what’s been going on behind his back. Only having seen two clips on you-tube I was so pleased with the end clip in many ways. I think that the writers had listened to us, and told the story in a meaningful and MATURE way. I was so glad that Sam didn’t stomp off in his usual sloppy huff. But the boys did clearly part which once again we knew would happen any way it was predictable. I also found myself congratulating the board on IMDb for not bashing Sam and that they were actually impressed by his discipline, and that he kept his anger under control. Perhaps it was because he hadn’t got his full strength back yet and hadn’t taken it all in, I don’t no. Either way Sam has come off quite well this time considering. The whole tone of this scene was so well crafted, and expressive and it totally blew me away. My show was back by the feel of things with tension, drama and angst the boys were on fire!
‘Don’t think that’s the problem because its not’
Has confused so many reading between the lines, they are wondering what Sam meant. So guys any thoughts as to what the confrontation meant between our heroes any thoughts? I found this even harder to watch the second time round. Feeling tears run down my face. I do feel so sorry for both of them what a terrible position to be in! is another lie scratched on the bed post, that will never be forgotten?

Cool, still waiting to see it. I’ve been busy with the review for ‘Road Trip’ which you can all view on Supernaturally Devoted. Took me a while to compile but was worth it. I noticed you replied to it Ikeke and will reply to it shortly. I think we are on a role with the writing at the moment and hope it does stay this way. The first half of the season was really meh in comparison to where the show is now.
It was a good solid episode that ratcheted up the tension quite a bit. There’s all kinds of new information, especially regards Cain and Dean. We get some lovely moments between Sam and Cas and I just knew Cas would counsel Sam the same he did Dean, armed with his new understanding of what it feels to be human. So that scene with the Peanut Butter sandwich plays out later in the episode.
I was hoping the writers would delve in to the Cain and Abel story line as they do run along side each other, so to speak. At least Dean fans should be pleased that Dean is finally getting some much needed story time. I am so pleased Cas has been there for Sam, he needs someone to talk to, if Dean isn’t there. At least his recent human adventures allowed him to counsel Sam in a good way, at least he knows now how it really feels.
We learn some interesting back story about Cain and his killing of his brother, his creation of the Knights, what happened to all the Knights, and some interesting parallels to Sam and Dean’s story. Crowley turns out to still be very much like his usual scheming self although they don’t get the weapon we do get to see it right in the opening of the episode.
I have read about this side of the story. Which is good that the writers are weaving in these plots as I think they are important to the arc in general. But I have read that there are some human traits about Crowley which fans are noticing and loving. That he has subtle changed, he’s not quite as gun ho as he once was!! There is feeling there like when he found out about Kevin’s death. You could see it in his eyes.
Sam is still willing to sacrifice his life but Cas refuses to accommodate him and gives him a good talking to about how boneheaded the Winchesters try to be and how much their lives are worth even though they keep trying to throw their lives away. It looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship and there’s even a hug from Sam to Cas at the end. The whole scene between them is very touching and I was almost in tears.
Sam really does want out, and I don’t understand fully where this wanting to die stems from? Whats actually triggered this off. As in the finale he seemed in quite a good place when they were talking about closing the gates of heaven and hell. At least Sam has gone back to his original format of wanting to die before being possessed which we thought might be on the cards. I so hate it that he wants to die and give it all up. He really is depressed with his lot. I am pleased the writers are gelling these two together, its been a long time coming since that remark of Cas back in season 4. The two of them are very similar in many ways and finally seeing them get along, and understand one another is awesome to watch. I will look forward to this moment.
I can see where the writers are trying to open up and begin a new myth arc between The Winchesters and the angels and demons and the MoL. I’m really psyched about the future of this series. I like where they are going. I’m worried about Deans future and what it means and if he’ll keep it a secret from Sam (per usual) . I hope not. Have we not had enough secrets from Sam? Yes! Yes! And more Yes!
I’m still not 100% on were they are heading if I’m honest. I suppose it will become clearer to me once I’ve seen the episode. We know by now how this show operates, so yes and will be surprised if he does tell Sam.
So to the writers, please just STOP IT!
Bottom line is Cain was really impressed with Dean and apparently the demons really do talk about the Winchesters a lot because Cain has heard of Dean and kept mentioning his reputation. Also we get to see some Bamf! Dean! Which is great as I never get tired of watching Dean kick some demon a**!
Well the boys are related even though very distantly so its no surprise that Cain hold Dean in high regard and I think its kind of nice. They are cut from the same cloth when all said and done. You know this scene took Jensen 9 hours to film, and he was tired days after. They put so much attention into how it was choreographed. I love rugged Dean and some have said that this reminded them of Purgatory Dean it was in a similar vein. Dean is so Dean when he’s under pressure and fit to burst. Its like he’s on a self destruct button and can’t stop until the job is done. He won’t let it rest.
I think you will walk away from this episode very happy but very worried about Dean for a change. Sam ends the episode in an okay place and completely human for a change.
I do hope so Ikeke … The show has been so good the last few weeks I don’t want it to slip back now. I know, I am worried for Dean too, mentally he’s not in a good place. We knew he was going to go dark. But am sure he will come out the other side okay. Dean rarely lets anything beat him, he’s a tough cookie!!! I am stocked for Sam finally being human as its what he’s always wanted. Maybe this might push away those suicidal thoughts. But in away I kind of feel sad, as that’s what made Sam different was his supernatural powers. But maybe a change for the better, who knows. 😉
This was good. I give it 9/10 because now I’ve got a bad feeling in my stomach about Dean.
Good strong score, pleased with this….. I know but this will pass. We have to take the rough with the smooth. Sam has been through the mill, now Dean as to as well.

Dean once again did not delve into the consequences of being a marked man. However, since it is his blood line, it was destined to happen. Now let’s see what Dean does with his free will to curb its toll on him, if anything. For once Sam is apparently free of all supernatural influence, yes. Dean now gets to be the”freak”. Myth arc is wide open….again.
This is sounding rather exciting I am liking where they are taking the boys. I think bringing in Cain was a stroke of luck for the writers it appears to be a genius plot, and can’t wait for it to be told.

I also think Sam was referring to Dean’s low self esteem. Dean has battled self hatred and unworthiness even when it was not his fault. Think back to the Striga episode when we see the Striga almost kill Sam because Dean left him to play in the arcade. John brought the boys back to kill it when they were adults, but Dean felt it was his mess. Think about how Dean characterized himself in season 8 when the Hell Hounds were the first trial to complete. Now, Dean has lied again and put Sam at risk and his guilt over Kevin is heavy. He says he tries to believe that he does more good than harm but in the end he is poison to those near him. This self evaluation is part of the problem that I think Sam is referring to in his “don’t think that’s the problem” speech, but above all he has betrayed Sam again. Sam will probably be schooled in the difference btwn dumbass stupidity and blind trust. Although Dean heard it, he has not yet processed it as he is so focused on revenge against Gadreel. Now remember, that the players do not know that Gadreel is Metatron’s pawn, so this adds a whole new layer to our story. Re: Off Topic- I agree Abaddon is old evil whereas Crowley is more “wall street” dealer/businessman who actually deals fair and his word is good. Crowley’s characterizations of Abaddon are spot on. He hints that she is only immortal for the moment as the set up for the next episode. Because he is a “modern” bad,he always has more information on the big bads- hence the partnership with Dean. Sometimes lately, he shows a bit of humanity- he attempts to punch Gadreel in the dream rather than fleeing which is his usual tactic. It has never been revealed what type of demon he actually is- yes his mother was a witch, but his smoke is red, he teleports(Abaddon does not) and his eyes don’t change. So can Crowley be further developed? Can’t get rid of him in the series- he is to much fun and often gives the piece of information that is required by the Winchesters- he is Cas’ reflection at times now.

He’s not an angel derivative because none of the angels can teleport as they are cut off from heaven. For some reason, although this was right under my nose, I never noticed that Crowley is the only demon we’ve ever seen that teleports. And there’s also that line he gave when he said he was forever. I’m still wondering about how Crowley breaks all the rules of demonhood and yet none of us have truly noticed or mentioned it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
This was why I always thought Crowley was more than a demon, as we don’t see bog standard black eyed demons teleport. This was why I thought he could have been angel related. Crowley isn’t Crowley for nothing, He knows how to get around red tape.

He is also the only demon who smokes out red. And I have never seen his eyes change color. So there is something undiscovered about him that the writers have yet to figure out.
There was an episode a while back where we first saw his eyes turn red, I think it was the auction episode when Crowley possessed Mrs Tran. Then we saw the red smoke. Mark Sheppard teased on twitter and interviews for ages saying that you’ve never seen the colour of Crowley’s eyes. For ages I’ve always thought Crowley was more than a black eyed demon. Even down to a fallen angel. But as has been said in the past that demons were human so that rules it out. But there is something special about Crowley, I’ve always felt there was more to him.

I think that Sam’s reaction to finding out about Dean letting the Angel possess him was one of anger at first but then it was like a weary acceptance, disappointment and sadness. Dean has done things like this in the past so I think Sam wasn’t too surprised. I feel that Sam takes this as just another blow to their already beat up relationship and he feels like an aging boxer for want of another analogy. I just hope that Sam can recover emotionally and eventually forgive if not forget all of the mistakes Dean has made and just know that his older brother loves him. I also wanted to mention and ask everyone if they know what the Supernatural spin-off series is going to be about? Or whom it will be about?
Eventually it will ease off and return back to normal, that is just the format of this show really. It does annoy me that the writers sometimes don’t delve into the boys feelings as much as they could do. This was a big thing and I just hope it doesn’t get pushed under the rug for something meatier. I have actually seen the episode today finally yeah!!. And my boys didn’t disappoint. I thought Dean’s emotional scenes in particular really moved me, and made me think about his feelings much more than I previously had. I hope Sam’s recovers he has in the past and think what he’s been through this boy is like Teflon he keeps bouncing back for more. (Teflon for those who don’t know used to be a make of cooking pans in the UK) Gadreel Said early on that he knew Dean did what he did out of love, and hopefully whilst Sam was in his dream world some where that relayed back to him and picked up on it. This story line is rather complex as so much has gone on. We just no deep down that what’s gone before is put to bed and they do move on. There not necessarily brothers who keep harping on about it. But things do tend to come back and bite them up the bum!
I just started coming to this blog so forgive me if there has already been a discussion concerning this topic. I guess the 20th episode of this season of Supernatural will serve as a back-door pilot to this new series. I’m sooo excited that even if our beloved Supernatural ends there will be another show in the same universe to carry the torch! I pray that some or all of the writers and possibly the show-runner from Supernatural will contribute to this new show. In a perfect world Supernatural will carry on alongside this new series. There is one thing about the new show that I am leery of and that is that the show will introduce a NEW LEAD character! So much for hoping Cass will have his very own show. Well I do hope that many of our beloved characters from Supernatural will make appearances. Any thoughts?
From what I’ve read none of the present cast will be on the spin-off. As they are too tied up with this schedule, they wouldn’t simply have the time. So I guess they will cast a new lead or two. It will be interesting to find out what the premise is. As they won’t be on a road trip like Sam and Dean because its based in one town. So they won’t be moving around that much. I would think Jeremy will be heavily involved as its his creation, so wouldn’t expect anything less. Many did hope Cas would be involved with the spin-off when he’s not shooting SPN, but none of us have heard that he’s taking part. He may have a cameo. But they may not even touch on angels. I’m not overly excited about this show as I’ve said but may pop over and see what its all about. Not sure what the others think of the spin-off?

Yeah I’m pretty leery of that too. Seriously though, Mark Sheppard needs his own shine where he can just shine. I’d love to see a show that featured him and Crowley and Cas. Don’t know if that’s the show but I’d love to see it. What I hope not to see is teenage hunters or something like that with Chrissie and her annoying friends. No, no and just no! Cw doesn’t need one more show with teens in it. I’d like to see other hunters though and I would even watch a show about those silly ghost-facers meeting up with actual supernatural beings like demons and angels.
Ikeke, Darcy is talking about the spin-off which is being bought into episode 20 of SPN to launch it. Actually that’s not a bad idea, I could see Cas being the leader of heaven and have Crowley as the boss of hell. I could imagine their flirting going on now. These two do have a good chemistry thing going on and Cas’s annoyance is a pleasure to watch. Imagine how foul they would be to each other. No, to teenagers please. Puts me off straight away. No ghost-facers I couldn’t stand them the first time let alone being in the spin-off, if they are the leads, then I won’t be tuning in.

Please no, not the Ghost-facers. In small bits, but I don’t think they can sustain a full hour week after week. They already had their own web show for a while-really they did. Usually this pair puts our brothers on video as interfering with their hunting and Sam and Dean always get the better of them. I barely tolerate them at times. I feel the spin off might be time for a female hunter. We know it takes place in Chicago. I am skeptical that the premise will work without the chemistry and interaction of the brothers. It is hard to recreate magic.
I don’t think they have it in them either to cover week-to weeks. This was what bothered me without any interference from the brother’s it will be sink or swim. Spin-off’s generally don’t do so well. I really do dislike the ghost-facers I always fast-forward when they come on. It was so corny. I so agree with a female hunter. I hope she is in the same league as Abaddon, as I love that actress.

I think a female could make an interesting hunter without a love triangle. If she has the libido of Dean it would turn the tables on stereotypes.It also depends what universe they create around a new hunter and who inhabits that world. It seems that it is a place to have a monster of the week show without a major arc. I have my doubts too.

I just got an update from Aunty B and she heard that the spinoff involves the GHostfacers in Chicago. Don’t know if that’s 100% though. If it is I am really disappointed and I agree with you that they are all right in bits but any more than that would get old very quickly. I also agree with ikeke35 when he states that there are more then enough teenage shows in this vein on the CW. I want to see a mature spinoff that can stand on it’s own. Let’s face it, most spinoffs do horribly and this one has enormous shoes to fill! If they can pull it off hooray to them…and us! Having another show in the SPN universe that is successful and fun to watch is always a plus for fans but it is an awful long shot. I guess all we can do is wait and see, watch it, and then…come here and discuss it! hahaha

What Id like to see : A show about the ghostfacers can be done as long as its not meant to be a comedy but a drama. It could work if they’re not trying so hard to be funny (and the tw lead ghostfacers aren’t in it and there’s some kickass women in it too.) Id like to see some good characterization and lots of action and a little dark. Lots of monsters and Id like to get a closer glimpse at the hunting community and the monster community as well. Do the monsters know each other? Do they know about hunters? Are there different factions of monsters? Do they fight amongst themselves, help each other or hurt or help humans? This show could work if done right. Ill give it a couple of tries and see before I kick it out of bed.
What I don’t want : Love triangles of any kind. People standing around, looking intently into one anothers eyes and trying to be dramatic (this is where Smallville went horribly wrong) . No whining and crying women or teems (unless they approach it like Teen Wolf snarky sort of way.) I really really don’t want to see relationship angst unless its between family members and no cliched conversations about extramarital affairs or who loves who or who doesn’t spend enough time at home (with their spouse and kids – if there are kids). CW as a nasty habit of creating boring relationship angst and these characters spend far too much time talking and not enough doing. (In other words don’t just aim the show at women.)

IMHO the script demonstrated two mature reactions to difficult consequences. Dean is finally ready to go on his own. This is something since the pilot, he has not wanted to happen. Even when the brothers have split up, or Sam has been angered by Dean (the fake phone call from Amelia), Dean has sought out Sam. When Sam splits, it is usually because he disagrees with Dean or John and Dean is smothering his choices (even if they are bad ones) or John did not permit Sam to pursue his dreams (even if it was fated he would be in the business). Usually Sam returns with some sort of you need to treat me as an equal type of speech. (I don’t refer to the big splits that are supernaturally caused but the human made ones). In “Road Trip” Dean “does not have it in him” to stick the angel blade into Sam’s body- he is forever the big brother. This separation was caused by Dean’s decision to trick Sam and so he owns up to it and to the responsibility he feels for Kevin’s death. His decision to not take anyone else with him into the muck is the first time I can recall Dean making that decision. His willing to go it alone when Sam is out of danger, is a new dimension.
This is the way I feel debbab too. I’ve been really saying to myself I hope the writers do this properly and maturely. I think its been handled beautifully and boldly. I think our writers have subtly turned a much needed corner. I didn’t want Sam to thump Dean, but at the same time I didn’t want to see Dean walk off and away so much either, that really broke me and left a lump in my throat. I suppose that’s what it was meant to do. Your right about them splitting has mostly been about something supernatural causing the problem originally. So in many ways they should be used to this drama by now. What I was hoping for which still might happen is they thrash it out man to man. I guess we needed to see Dean come to terms with what he’d done in front of Sam. Its new and fresh to see, so thumps up.
Sam is pissed at Dean’s choice. Once again Dean lied to him and tricked him after promising it would stop. While he might have been ready to die, Dean’s decision took that out of his hands. Now, maybe he wanted to clock him but the way he was leaning on the fence and the statement from Cas that he can be healed in stages may tell us that Sam is not physically able to lash out as he usually does. His immediate response rather than sitting on the problem is a new step for Sam. He doesn’t shut Dean out from what he is feeling and expresses it quite maturely. He doesn’t try to stop Dean from going it alone but this is the crux of the matter.
As Dean said though he didn’t have it in him to let Sam die. Dean is way too co-dependent on Sam and its almost like OCD. He can’t let go. Gabe reminded Sam of this in Mystery Spot. I think there is a number of issues here that Sam needs or should clear the air about. The possession is only one of the matters which was why Sam said what he did in the end. This was what I also mentioned that Sam wasn’t fully compos mentis to clock Dean. I don’t recall Sam hitting Dean when Dean has been involved with something. He has thumped Dean on occasion, but not very often. Your right about Sam too, he listened to Dean and let him have his say. He didn’t shut him up or but in and argue. I can’t wait to see what Sam and Cas talk about, this will be really interesting. I still haven’t seen the episode yet, and am pulling my hair out. 😦
1. Sam is not up to hunting until he is healed physically and perhaps emotionally
I so agree, and maybe a few episodes in before he’s up to warp speed.
2. He realizes he cannot stop Dean once Dean has a mind set
Very true, Dean is like a bull-dozer he cannot be stopped very easily. Sam doesn’t have full control in this department.
3. He needs space from Dean to process his “posession” and Kevin’s demise
These are a few of my suppositions.
There is so much wrong with this possession from start to finish and is how they move forward over this that will be the big overall surprise. They both need space to clear their heads and then re-group.
His cryptic words to Dean about the real reason Dean is going it alone are open to interpretation.
1. Dean can’t be around Sam at the moment because of the guilt he feels
Again so true!! He’s hurting so much too, and clearly regretting it I am glad he has Cas to talk to now. At least there is someone in his corner to talk it through with.
2.. Dean can’t be around Sam’s anger at the moment and his own anger is better channeled to kill Gadreel- it’s a fierce pure anger with now room for brotherly sentiment to cloud the issue
This is a good plot actually because when you think back to when John died and Sam was worried about him, he lashes out in anger beating the Impala to death. This time he’s not channeled that anger, so this is a corner for him too. Oh man, what are these writers doing to us ha!!
3. Dean is not good company for anyone human at the moment until he processes Kevin’s death and what he did to Sam (stupidity for all the correct reasons)
These are just a few thoughts on that cryptic remark.
I think grief is gonna hit him harder this time. I think its gonna take more than a couple of months to sink in about Kevin. This time I have actually felt myself feeling sorry for Dean, in a big way. I am torn between both of these elements. The writers really have packed in a lot about Gadreel’s possession and will take us time to process never mind the boys, ha ha. 🙂
There is a fierceness and determination in Dean that we saw in Purgatory and other times when Dean has let revenge lead him instead of just the job. The humor is gone from him. No defenses-just pure Dean. He is doing what he has to do. He needs to be able to be with himself before he can play with others at the moment IMO. So excited about his pairing with Crowley to get Abaddon. And it gives Sam time to bond with Cas. Sam needs to heal on several levels.
This is sometimes what I love watching about Dean, how he gets around dark moments and deals with them. I think the humor has gone from the boys for sometime now. I think the last time they had real fun was on Larping. And your spot on about Garth, yes we do need lighter episodes to break up the doom and gloom, even though it is the month of January. I think we worry about the boys parting, but in terms of where their clearly at they need space and this often scares people but its a good thing, not a bad one necessarily.
Yes, Sam and Dean will reunite.
What I feel for sure is that these are not the prank filled brothers who would put nair in the shampoo or glue on a bottle of beer even while angels manipulate and the world might end. The Winchesters have matured and while at some point there will be humor, there is a seriousness to them now that is proper for their ages as the series moves along in the series. Scripts have to match the age of the characters for the story to stay “real”. Now, I know humor will return, but not just yet. Maybe that’s why we need some Garth. A little lightness in a sea of dark angels. Just some thoughts.
This is ALWAYS the BEST bit. I wonder if a hugs will follow? I hope Sam lifts Dean’s spirits and helps Dean through it. Jensen did say Dean would be in a dark place so this is obviously what they’ve been talking about. I am all for maturity it couldn’t have come at a better time quite frankly, they both need to grow… As I said their getting older, not any younger, and the story telling needs to reflect this. Well done writers!! By the way that fight scene with Cain did I tell you, took him nine hours to film, so that’s half a days work for him. I can’t wait to see this as they put a lot of work into it.

Jensen said that the scene where Sam is tortured by Crowley was very difficult for him to film. His personal discomfort came through in the scene with Cas. His automatic facial expressions can’t be faked – oh but he is such a good actor…. I have had a few days to process the episode and re watch it twice. Just like to add that the lighting during the first scene at the funeral pyre and the song by Bob Seger,” the final scene”- paralleled the final scene of the episode when Dean walks away, alone, again. We focus so much on our plot and acting, I thought it would be time to say WOW to the props and lighting crew that support the script and the acting. Just sayin’…
I couldn’t agree more debbab. I have seen it finally this morning, and Jensen did Wow me with all the emotional scenes, he always has. This man is gifted there is no doubt. You can’t fake a real smile so true. I loved it, there was so much that kept me interested and gripped throughout I felt my show was back. The first half was okay but this and holy terror have been great. I do love my myth arc related stories so much, this was what was missing for me. I have always loved how the music fits in so well with the scene in hand. They know their stuff so well. Dean doesn’t loose his temper too often. But when he does, he’s upset and so angry it shows. You could really see it in his eyes in the bunker and was so moving every inch of it. That scene in the dungeon was mind-blowing. I felt his tears. I told you my brother bought me the amulet for Christmas, I was holding onto this all the way through I wouldn’t let go 🙂 It was so good I give it ten out of ten and don’t easily give that away. The humor was so amusing and made up for the sad scenes, keeping it balanced.

I’m curious to know what your opinion is on where they go from here. yes Sam has to heal… slowly… and now Dean is suddenly off with Crowley (which I am so excited for to see what the writers have written script wise because of the character chemistry), but do you think that they will suddenly do the whole one episode away, then Sam and Dean are back in action (though Sam may be out of commission for a while longer) I feel like this time was different compared to every other time this type of scenario has happened, because Sam reacted differently. he was more shocked, and heart broken; “Don’t think that’s the problem because it’s not.”( which left me suspended…HELP!?)
Hi Jenni firstly welcome to the group, lovely to see a new face. Also glad you loved the episode. Yes this is exactly what we are expecting as its happened so many times before. Something knocks them off kilter they argue, separate and by the end of the next episode they meet up and make up. In Sharp Teeth they investigate a murder in a spa so they are definitely back together. If you think back to ‘Free to be you and me’ it was only one episode and Sam wanted back in because he’d found out about being Lucifer’s vessel. It depends what stories are coming up at the time. Dean is meeting with Cain in the next episode to find the blade to that will kill Abaddon so I hope Sam has something to do in this episode and its not too Sam light. Cas said he could heal Sam but in stages. As I guess his power has to regenerate to so his juice is given time to power up. This was what we were hoping would happen and its different because the boys are maturing and getting older. Their not little boys any longer. This is also showing character progression, their not stuck in a rut, good on Carver!! What I think Sam meant by that remark was that that wasn’t the only reason or it wasn’t the reason why he was pissed with Dean. With the possession came a whole bag of tricks. He’s more or less saying I think its not over yet by a long shot. So Dean has some groveling to do.
Do you think that the episode 5.04 is going to come into play or not? On another note… Through the seasons we have seen more of a Dean/Castiel relationship… So I am very excited to see how Sam/Castiel get along because it seems like there might be a couple of episodes of it (hopefully :)) there are sometimes in the seasons that I feel like Cas knows more about Sam then he is revealing to anyone… But that’s my own analysis of the show…. What do you think? thanks!
I’m not sure about 5.04 but as you I am so interested in Sam and Cas blossoming, not romantically of course, but to show us definite signs of progression. I think Cas in the past has held back from Sam, and has done things in the past to please Dean. So I hope this does change for the better. Sam is his own man, and I get the feeling with Cas sometimes its a bit one-sided. I think your right Cas does know a lot more about Sam than he ever talks about, so it will be interesting to see where it goes. I hope Cas will persuade Sam to talk to Dean and get them to met up. Cas has always been loyal to Dean and he could see why he did it. Sam will eventually calm down so next week we might have some tears of sadness to contend with from what I’ve heard.

I love that Sam and Cas will be spending time together and I like the relationship that is developing between them especially when you consider how the two first met. Cas completely dismissed Sam as the “boy with the demon blood” and mostly paid no attention to him, so it’s great to see them become friends over time and Sam needs to form a relationship with Cas that is separate from his brother’s. I also love that Cas will be staying at the bunker. I just like him there.
I think most of us are pleased about Sam and Cas becoming much closer. Its been on the cards for a while now. The demon blood line really ate Sam up. It wasn’t his fault and Cas should have known that much. They have been through so much together and are very similar character wise, and both look up to Dean for support. So they have a lot in common. He has in Jody, and that has clearly become Sam’s little area so at least he has her to bounce off. I love all three of them there. I also adore how Dean apologized to Cas it was long over due.
This is a little Off-Topic: As for Abaddon finding out about the bunker… here’s how different Abaddon and Crowley are. Abaddon chose to kill a tremendous asset in a fit of anger. Crowley left the asset alive. Had Abaddon kept the NSA woman alive then she could access information about the whereabouts of anyone, including where the Winchester’s are by tracing the whereabouts of the Impala. But Abaddon is blinkered in her thinking. She sees only one goal at a time instead of working on multiple goals and she doesn’t plan well for the future. She says she was made for war so she has many grandiose plans but her only plan seems to be brute force until her enemy gives up and its also all she understands. This is why Crowley will win. He understands modern humanity in a way that Abaddon doesn’t. She comes from a time in human history when brute force and the occasional clever thought was enough. Things were more barbaric and people/demons more ignorant. The world is subtler and more sophisticated now and she doesn’t get that. Crowley does.
She’s like a programmed robot, she doesn’t no any different. Good points I like this logic.
Back on topic :
I saw Sam’s comment at the end as saying “that’s not the real reason you’re running away right now”. I thought his response was weary but mature and I liked how he let Dean speak his piece and actually listened to him and then defined the real reason why Dean was leaving. But I cant help but see that once again Dean has made a decision (to cut Sam out) without Sam’s consent. He did it for love but once again hes making the choice out of Sam’s hands whether to stay with him or not. I see Sam’s statement as leaving the door open for him to return. Telling Dean that when hes ready to discuss it he’ll be ready to talk about it too. This mission of revenge may come back to bite him in the butt so I’m a little dubious about that.
I thought the ending was very sad but to the point. It didn’t mix words, or over play on their emotions. It hit where it was meant to. I see what the writers are doing here. But at the same time you can’t help but feel torn between both boys. I still don’t get where Sam wanting to die came from. In the finale when the boys were almost ready and they’d set Crowley up and the boys were in the boot of the Impala, Dean asked Sam how he was, for the first time I feel good. Then later I don’t know if it was Gad talking or Sam that he’d never felt better and was almost on a high. Then we come back to him feeling depressed and not having the right to die again. We’ve had no real indication of Sam wanting to end it all. He was depressed in the finale because he was letting Dean down all the time. But was he really suicidal or had Gad clouded his judgement? At least my prey’s were answered in the fact that Sam didn’t stomp off in a huff, and yes let Dean give him an explanation. Which was a mature and the correct way to go, he gave him a chance. He was leaving the door open, but he was also pointing out to Dean I think that we still have unresolved issues that I want answers too, Sam won’t leave it there.
