Wren’s Top Five Episodes Of Season Four

Come on in, ladies, the water’s warm. Posts like this are made to provoke discussion. Be provoked.

1. When The Levee Breaks

SPN_0318

An odd choice, perhaps, but JP is wonderful in the Sam-centric penultimate episode. The entire thing is a pile of chilhood fears and suspicions. There’s one moment in particular where Sam is hallucinating his mother; we see her put an arm around him, and he leans into it, but then the camera switches angles and all we see is Sam, leaning into something that isn’t there.

2. Monster Movie

SPN_0306

Decadent, groundbreaking, and so, so silly. I LOVE Jamie. Everything about this episode- not just the black-and-white, that’s easy to do- is in the style of a ‘monster movie’. The shadows on the wall. The stupid Wolfman costume. The shot of the glass spinning kaleidoscopically when Dean’s been drugged. The credits; the music. (Oh god, the MUSIC.)

Also, you guys all know I’m a sap, but I can’t be the only one who teared up when Dracula/Shifter said ‘Maybe this… is how the movie… should end.’

3. On The Head Of A Pin

spn_0368

JA is truly chilling in this one, to which I also award the Wrencollins Certificate Of General Disturbingness. Season Four was good for Psychochesters, but here it’s taken to a whole new level. The guy who played Alastair is fantastic too- and how beautiful the whole thing is, lusciously filmed, with eyes and skin luminous in the shadows. And then we have Sam’s ‘Now I can kill,’ and the blissful concentration as he kills Alastair, tilting his head like he’s listening to a Beethoven concerto. The episode ends on Dean in hospital, looking the closest to broken as we’ve ever seen him.

4. I Know What You Did Last Summer

SPN_0186

This nomination is for the flashback with Sam and the crossroads demon. Absolutely heartwrenching. I don’t even know what to say about it.

5. It’s A Terrible Life

SPN_0196

(Omfg. That screencap. Their FACES… I can’t…)

Basically an AU, and so entertaining. Summary: Dean Smith and Sam Wesson meet in an office after a coworker microwaves his head. They then decide to quit their jobs and go on the road to have ghost-hunting shenanigans together.

‘Uh- did you just call me Sammy?’

‘Did I?’

‘I think you did. Yeah. Don’t.’

Honourable Mentions:

Wishful Thinking, because the giant, alcoholic, suicidal teddy bear is one of the stupidest funniest things I’ve ever seen. Kripke, you dork.

Lucifer Rising. The look on Sam’s face when, in the middle of killing Lilith, he hears Dean calling him. Ohmygod.

Jump The Shark. Adam! That young actor is great. Also, the ghoul scene is so realistically gory. Ack.

It’s The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester. Badass early Cas and Uriel.

Lazarus Rising. Manpain in dollops.

Metamorphosis- Kim Manners’ last episode before he passed away. It’s fascinating, angry, and very, very gross.

The Rapture. The fluency with which Misha switches between Jimmy Novak and Castiel is flawless.

Heaven And Hell, because it is an absolute doozy. Also: that sex scene is so beautifully done, with the silver light. If you’re interested, I wrote more about Dean’s Hell trauma here.

And finally, Yellow Fever. I don’t even have to explain this one, do I.

Your turn. Top five, anyone? I know you’re all lurking around here somewhere.

  1. “Taxi Driver wasn’t written by Jeremy Carver- it was Buckner & Leming.”

I know he didn’t. He’s the showrunner, therefore he’s responsible for the entire season as he green lights everything. The problems I have with S8 currently only started when he took over. It’s his vision and the way he’s running the ship.

  2. And Wren did another one! Yay ;D
    I’ll share my list.

    1.It’s a Terrible Life
I didn’t enjoy season 4 but this episode was pure perfection, mostly because the guys were allowed to be other people. It was so much fun, a great break from how depressing and soul-crushing the entire season was. The musical intro was everything with the montage of Dean Smith starting his day. Dean Smith. Dean without all the pain, the trauma, the weight of the world on his shoulders. His shirt, his suspenders, his hair, his taste in music, his health-nut tendencies, his corporate job, his hilariously awkward conversations with Sam Wesson in the elevator. That unforgettable moment when Sam “quits” lol. Lines likes “My portfolio is in the sewer” and most of all, one of my favorite angels, Zachariah! “Finally.” “You should see my decoupage.” “Big things.. Good stuff.” Kurt Fuller’s performance was one of the highlights of season 4.

    2.In the Beginning
Dean going back in time. Young Mary, Young John, also two incredible characters to come out of S4. Dean getting all the backstory live and direct, discovering something Sam was hiding from him, the demon blood Azazel fed Sam when Sam was 6 months old. The incomparable Mitch Pileggi. The rivalry between Samuel and Dean. The scene where pries!Dean outsmarts priest!Samuel *cackles* The emotional moment between Dean and Mary, “promise me you won’t get out of bed”. Jesus, Jensen. That performance :’).

    3.Monster Movie
Didn’t like it the first time I saw it, fell in love the second time once I “got” it. Shapeshifters are my favorite non-demonic species on SPN and this one was the real MVP. A flair for the dramatic, a sense of humor, and he even made me feel bad for him. I also love Jamie and it was nice to see Dean steal a few moments of pleasure and fun at Octoberfest. He wasn’t feeling all that good in general that season.

4.The Monster at the End of This Book
Meta done right. I loved the publisher. Her rapid-fire questions to determine if the guys were legit. The show me yours I’ll show you mine tattoo scene. Oh, and one of my great loves on this show : Chuck Shurley.. “Is this a misery thing?”. The great laundromat scene. “Those are your brooding and pensive shoulders” lol. Also great cameo by all grown up Lilith. I almost forgot Dean and his tofu burger order. He tried but no dice.

    5. On the Head of a Pin
“Let’s get started.” The Dean Alastair scene. Uriel, another memorable angel, and his pro-apocalypse plans revealed… back when angel blades weren’t sold on Groupon. Sam racing to find Dean, and handling the hell out of Alastair with his hand of Ipecac. Wooh! Jared was terrific in this one. Dean in the hospital, broken and bruised but STILL snarky. “You need to learn how to manage a damn devil’s trap.” Dean breaking down, deeply affected by Alastair’ s verbal torture “Did I start all this?” :(. One of my favorite moment was Sam in his protective and bossy glory. “Get in there and heal him. Miracle. Now.” I loved this little moment. I felt alienated from Sam the whole season and I hold the moments I was able to catch a glimpse of someone I recognized very dear.

    1. I LOVE Its a Terrible Life! I have a father named Bobby and a mother Named Ellen …did he also say a sister named Jo? I can’t remember.

In The Beginning just the scene “The emotional moment between Dean and Mary, “promise me you won’t get out of bed”. Jesus, Jensen. That performance :’).” makes it a great episode.

Monster Movie-Lederhosen LOL Oh and Dean is rehymenated AHAHAHA

Monster At the End of This Book-oh my how i love this episode. I’m sitting in a laundromat reading about myself sitting in a laundromat reading about myself. And Chuck! Love Chuck! I am the prophet Chuck! Castiel Telling Dean how to stop it by not tellling him. And Chucks talk with Sam about the Demon blood. Oh May 4th thats my, uh Sams birthday and how confident Dean is when he says his favorite tune is a tie. And of course Hi I am Dean Winchester and this is my brother Sam-and then Chuck-I never wrote that down..
Can you tell I love this episode?

On the Head of a Pin-I can’t watch this episode-it just tears me up inside.

Yes, Dean also said his sister’s name was Jo.

“Monster Movie-Lederhosen LOL Oh and Dean is rehymenated AHAHAHA”
LOL! And the dude, will NOT abide. Every time Dean gets his V-card back, he loses it within 24 hours.

It was a really good one 🙂

Omfg I forgot about the rehymenation. What did you guys think of the s9 ep where Sam and Dean got revirginized? I thought it was hilarious but it seemed to get a lot of fandom hate.

          2. I loved Rock and a Hard Place. I heard the arguments of those who are angry about it. I feel some arguments are very sincere (I see things differently but I won’t discard well-thought out opinions from people with a different perspective and sensitivity), while others are just an expression of bitterness from those who hate to be reminded that Dean loves women and didn’t move Castiel into his bedroom like they swore he would.

Personally, I enjoyed the whole scene. I love watching Dean do anything that makes him happy. Eating a burger, getting his slice of pie, enjoying magic fingers on a motel bed, and getting some tender love and care. He’s always so giddy after spending some quality time with a woman that I love when he gets a chance to. I also remember the character as having a robust appetite and I don’t like it when they turn him into a monk.

Suzie was like a dream come true for him. The stuff bucket lists are made of. Dean is a Casa Erotica connoisseur and getting one of his favorite performer to reenact a scene with him must have been a thrill. I don’t believe he coerced or manipulated Suzie. He wanted her and let it be known. Her decision was to climb him like a tree and she didn’t seem fearful or trapped.

            2. I used to ship Destiel, but it’s that sort of wanky shit that put me off. Not that that’s anything to do with the actual ship, but I’m taking a step back.
And I didn’t see it as coercive at all. I like SPN’s attitude to sex- it’s laid-back, it doesn’t see it as a sin or even that much of a big deal. I mean, Dean was practically fangirling over her. He probably made her feel awesome.

Exactly. He was like a kid in a candy store. Omg Carmelita! You’re the stuff dreams are made of””” lol.” Ugh, they had good chemistry and looked so good together. If they give Dean a girlfriend (they won’t but I’m just thinking out loud here) I so want it to be her.

                2. Did you guys see the con video where Jensen and Misha were asked about filming kissing scenes and they both said how they are not fun to do and not what they look like. Then Misha was talking about tongues not being used (I’m seriously paraphrasing here) and that got JENSEN talking about a recent actress who he had to shoot a scene where
Dean and she are getting passionate . He said that the actress pulled back and reminded him “no tongues” to which he said “duh” (I don’t know if he said this to her or was just saying it for the benefit of the con audience). He said by the third take – “BOOM!!! Here comes the tongue!” The date of the con led one to believe it was the “Ex porno star” actress.

          3. S9…The revirginized is when they “Said” they were going to be born again virgins. Dean promptly got it on with the Spanish porn star, and Vesta…The Roman God of health, killing all that break their vow of chastity. Ha! My favorite quotes…Dean
” So you hit the Virgin-do-over button and everything is alright with the man upstairs. ”
“Sex has always felt, I dunno, good. I mean really, really, really good. (A oh, really you gotta be a born again virgin remember that Nasty look from Sam)
But sometimes it, just makes you feel bad. You’re drunk, you shack up, then it’s the whole morning thing, ‘Hey, that was fun’ and then adios
(Looking all dejected) Always the adios. But when you get down to it, what’s the big deal? Sure, there’s the whole touching and feeling all of each other, ( smiling he’s just getting warmed up on the details, Sam looking all moosey his eyes are getting rounder by the second) my hands everywhere, tracing every inch of her body. The two of us moving together, pressing, pulling, grinding (Sam’s eyes are rounder and rounder, everyone else is getting uncomfortably hot and bothered) and then you hit that sweet, sweet spot and everything just builds, and builds and builds until it just (makes a explosion noise, no I don’t know how, work with me; Sam has now had enough gives Dean a big hurmph and a whispered exasperated Dean!) But the whole thing was just a little too…well sticky.”
I love it….and that huge goofy smile he gave Sam when he signed the chastity promise papers…OMG…LMAO!

SO sometimes I shut it off before its totally done because I refuse to see Sam hurt his brother like that. Her had every right to be angry and to yell and scream at Dean but to hurt Dean with those hurtful words just broke my heart.

                    3. Honestly? I think he had every right to say what he did. I mean, he had his autonomy taken away from him for months because Dean couldn’t let him go, and it led to Kevin’s death. It wasn’t like he said they weren’t brothers any more- he was just saying they couldn’t possibly carry on being brothers if Dean did things like that.

                    4. All that is fine (although it doesn’t bother me as much as you that he saved him that way, his hiding it bothered me much more than the actual act of zeke possessing him to save him)-but he said that Dean did it for selfish reasons and because Dean didn’t want to be alone and I do not believe that at all. JMHO and I am sticking to it 🙂

                    6. I think he believed that he wouldn’t at the time… I mean, a step back was clearly necessary. Their whole relationship had gotten pretty toxic at that point. S10 seemed rebuilding it from scratch, sarting with Paper Moon- they were so CAREFUL with each other.

                    7. Yeah, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t being reasonable at the time. ‘Hurting Dean’s feelings’ is hardly in the same league as Dean tricking him into being possessed- which was equated to rape- for months, which resulted in Kevin’s death. There’s a bit in the finale where Sam’s like, ‘You tricked me, and now I’m the one who wakes up in the middle of the night seeing my hands kill Kevin.’
Whether he regretted it or not, I think he was perfectly within his rights to say what he did.

I’m with you on the shifters! Love all the shifter episodes.
Bit of trivia: the publisher in TMATEOTB was the same actress who played the woman whose throat got slit in The Usual Suspects in s2.
Re Season Four Sam, I didn’t feel alienated- more wringing my hands and shouting SAM BBY WHAT ARE U DOING at the screen. But I felt SO BAD for him- and Dean obvs, with the Hell PTSD and stuff.
I think Sam’s descent was portrayed in a very sympathetic way. Even more sympathetic than Cas’s s6 betrayal.

Yeah, she wore the same sweater too, just different colors lol.

“I think Sam’s descent was portrayed in a very sympathetic way.”
I didn’t. I would have done it differently and I remember a lot of people being angry at Sam’s portrayal at the time. It’s Kripke’s show and he did it the way he wanted. Worked for some, still a sore point for others, even after all this time 🙂

          1. When the Levee Breaks is amazing and it actually made a real effort to portray Sam’s descent in a sympathetic way. In order for the portrayal to be truly sympathetic, it would have needed to be consistently sympathetic throughout the season in my opinion.

I found Sam often cold, dismissive, condescending, if not downright scornful. I get that the demon blood was working him over, but I would have need a LOT more of him being truly conflicted and less of him following Ruby around.

Ruby, who screeched that she would enjoy thinking about Dean getting the skin peeled off his bones in Hell. Ruby, who repeatedly proved she wasn’t to be trusted. I despised Ruby and saw right through her. The arc didn’t work for me. It made Sam look really bad at times. Never mind, Dean was going through literal Hell while Sam was sneaking off with this despicable character. The best part of the season was Sam holding Ruby up to be stabbed by Dean. Took long enough.

I never trusted Ruby either, and I derived much pleasure when Dean got to stab her. I do admit that at first when she appeared I thought her sketchy, but when she did seem to help more than hinder the boys. I was begrudgingly accepted it was plausible she wasn’t all bad; especially when she was repossessed (is that even a word? Since it’s SPN anything is possible) by Lilith and killed. I thought okay so she wasn’t BS, she really was going good For Some Reason. Then S4 happened and she’s feeding him her blood, I thought, “WTF, that’s not good.” After that I was thinking she got rehab in Hell for seeing the light, like Anna going to Heaven For rehab Reconditioning. But that last bit of her saying she was always working for Olé Yelled and Luci, that was a turn unseen.

As soon as she showed Sam her demon eyes I knew. She got him when he was vulnerable (Dean was in hell) but still, it should have been as obvious to him as it was to us and Dean!

                  1. She fooled me in s3- not in s4, but I don’t think she was meant to then. Clearly, in IKWYDLS Sam was sceptical, but viewed her as his only chance to get Dean out of hell… and when Dean got out of hell himself Sam felt like he should have been able to save him, so he went all-out to kill Lilith as a way to compensate for what he saw as a failure. But then got blinded by the mission and the addiction.

            2. It did make him look bad. I mean, it was never going to make him look GOOD. In general, I didn’t see much of a difference in him til about halfway through. My view of the portrayal as sympathetic comes from I Know What You Did Last Summer- which was clearly what kicked him off down the blood-drinking road- When The Levee Breaks, and Lazarus Rising, in which he was totally totally conflicted, until Le Voicemail.
I was fooled by Ruby in s3- not in s4. We weren’t supposed to be fooled by her in s4. I think Sam, as a character, has that inherent vulnerability to demons and to monsters- he wants to believe that they can be good, that they can be saved, because then he can be saved- but in this occasion it leads him down the rabbit hole. And he ends up an addict, unable to see past revenge.

So a question-did Dean give Anna up or was that all part of the setup?

      1. Oh yeah- Dean says ‘I got to hand it to you, Sammy. Bringing them all together at once- angels and demons. It was a damn good plan.’
I think he definitely would have given her up, in the absence of a plan, since they threatened Sam’s life.

          1. I’ve always thought Anna knew, the plans were already being set into motion well before Dean and her did the Swoon worthy nasty in Baby.
For the plan to work it hinged on Ruby to do her part and bring in the spawnlings at the precise time as Junkless {Uriel} was there to smote her.

When she forgave Dean for his “supposed” betrayal, I believe she was just giving Junkless no reason to smell a double cross. She had all her memories, she knows the Angelic tactics to get what they want from a mere mud monkey.

    Okay…My 5 season 4 { pouting, I loved most of this season}

    #1. In the Beginning
    Dean get’s a trip to 1973 thanks to Cas, to meet the folks, Gramps & Grams Campbell and stop the deal Mary makes with Ole Yeller. Because of the warm{sarcasm} welcome that Gramps gives Dean, he is right up there in the top 5 on my Fecal roster {#4}
I particularly love the interplay between Dean and his parents. Oh and finding out that Dean got his name from his Grams. Ouch dean took a hit there. Poor Sam misses out on some worthy blackmail; The Platinum Diamond encrusted kind.. hehe! I always thought that Ole yeller had perfectly planned this bit of treachery. Kill the Father, setting up Mom for the Woo, gaining her soul with a pact of love. Pretty sneaky, Azazel- #8 on my Fecal roster.

    #2. Monster Movie….{{ #4 IN MY ALL TIME FAVORITE’S}}
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! LOVE SOME MORE!
    Love the black and white
Love all the monsters from early movies.

All the vintage music… Just a beautiful episode IMHO. It’s certainly not for everyone but it’s one of my go to’s when I need a perk.

    #3. Yellow Fever {{#3 ALL TIME FAVORITE’S}}
OMG… I loved Dean being all pissy pants scared. Love it! The end when he was talking to Lilith though, I really felt for the guy. Oh can’t forget the gentle giant Lurch that was road hauled for a crime not of his doing, and becoming a vengeful spirit thingee because of it. That was truly Heartbreaking….

    #4. Heaven and Hell
Them doing the deed in Baby, Oooooooo, HWOT!!!
Ok well that’s about all I could care about, after that it all became a blur. I do believe Anna showed them the angel banishment sigel though.

#5. On the Head of a Pin
The almost inhuman pleasure Dean portrayed while torturing Alastair, that was disturbing.
    But what I found more disturbing is Alastair egging him on and enjoying it. [shudder}
I love that we see Cas finally shed some of that angelic ice and really become bothered by the fact that Dean is losing himself in there.

    Honorable Mention List…

And yes, I felt really bad for Lurch… great choices! Season Four was so good. I kinda hate it at the same time though because it was BRUTAL.

Honorable Mentions of brutal deaths…when Bobby died…I literally fell apart. ..Their Real Dad 😭 and when they had to burn his flask, when they saved him in hell, and when they got his help in Heaven. OK so I 💜 Bobby.
Jo and Ellen. .. Jo in Defending Your Life. So I’m a big softee…As I get older the Feels are more intense.

                1. Omg I love the bit in Lazarus Rising where Bobby has a yell at Dean. Not because I don’t like Dean or anything. It just felt so CATHARTIC. I was like, yess, Bobby, you tell him.

              1. Sometimes I liked the trials and sometimes I didn’t. I couldn’t understand why Sam had to do them alone-that wasn’t in the tablets that he had to do it alone…..or was it and it went right over my head?

                Liked by 1 person

                1. No, the person taking the Trials had to do everything. But Dean could have been present- it was a precautionary measure that he didn’t go to Hell with Sam and he didn’t help him with Crowley because he was too busy drinking with Cas.

              2. “Omg. 8. Wasn’t so keen on the first half, but the Trials arc KILLS me. (Like I said, I have a weakness for Mama Bear Dean.)”
Yeah, I hated the first half. I quit watching the show after the spoilers from Comic Con. There’s no universe where Sam wouldn’t have looked for Dean. I did enjoy watching many critics and bloggers losing their minds over this story-line and how nonsensical they thought it was. I felt vindicated lol.

My brother-loving friends told me the show got better during the second half (I ended up agreeing with them) but I only resumed watching after the entire season had aired. It was the right course of action. Watching live would have made very sad and angry because I’m overly emotionally invested in this show.

                1. Same. I had to write an entire essay on Sam looking for Dean (I’ve now reverted to believing that he had a mental breakdown and hallucinated the whole Amelia thing).
What DID you think of the second half? Man’s Best Friend With Benefits was pretty bad, but other than that I thought it was great. Though Taxi Driver was weak.

                  1. I’m holding on to the mental breakdown explanation although it wasn’t convincingly executed on screen. I’m grateful I was able to rant about it on IMDb with people who understand. It helped to evacuate some of the frustration. I still don’t like it and I look at the first half as character assassination for Sam.

Things got a LOT better with the second half. First, Amelia disappeared into thin air. Things really got started with LARP and the Real Girl (RIP Charlie) for me. There was a definite change in tone and things went from tense and gloomy to more lighthearted and loving.

Everybody Loves Hitler brought us the Batcave, which was an amazing moment. Trial and Error is an iconic episode for the mythology and that dialogue between the brothers. From Dean telling Sam his happy ending was Sam fat, bald, married with kids and chugging Viagra, to Sam telling Dean Dean was the best hunter he knew and he wanted to take Dean to the light :).

I’m personally offended by Man’s Best Friend. The fact that someone thought it was a brilliant idea to put black woman in a dog collar and have her be the half bitch half human female sex “companion” of a white man she calls master is the kind of decision-making that kills me about Supernatural, no matter how much I love this show.

I didn’t like the way they tossed Meg like another useless rag-doll in Goodbye Stranger. She was a villain sure, but I believe the character, who was one of the last relics from S1 deserved a more memorable death.

Taxi Driver is the embodiment of what I don’t like about Jeremy Carver. A wanton disrespect of the story told by others before him and a complete disregard for canon continuity and characterization. Hell’s now this place you can just stroll in when it took an army of angels to get Dean out in S4. …You’re the boss Jeremy.

Al in all, I didn’t care for S8 but the second half was LIGHT years ahead of the first one 🙂

                    1. I liked the season 8 episodes that had a lot of Purgatory in them, and I loved Benny. Gla they didnt turn him into “Ruby”. I don’t know who to blame for the show not SHOWING us that Sam had a breakdown. If they did I would have felt sooooooooooo much better about the season. I would have enjoyed Samelia if there was chemistry between Sam and Amelia but I didn’t see any. Theres a scene of them in bed and Sams wearing a short sleeved tee-REALLY??? At least with Dean and Lisa there was chemistry!

I liked Goodbye Stranger although I agree with the above about Meg. I swear I almost died laughing when Dean said Megstiel!

                    2. I like Benny, but weirdly enough I’m not too keen on his episodes. (Love the Purgatory dream sequence in Werther, though.)
I saw zero chemistry between them too. The t-shirt in bed thing makes sense if you go with the mental breakdown interpretation- Repo Man made it pretty obvious that Sam had been raped in hell, and many rape victims sleep in their clothes. (Btw, both of the brothers sleep in their clothes in the later seasons. With weapons in their hands.)
                      I really like Lisa…
And yes, Megstiel! I ship it. I really do.

                    3. I get that they wanted to do something new, and I think Carver found his groove towards the middle of s8- and I do really admire what he’s done with the show then onwards.
LARP was excellent. I love Dean being SO DONE with everyone and going ‘This is a real gun. See?’ and shooting the tree stump without even looking at it.
Agggh Dean’s ‘that’s my happy ending’ speech makes me cry. And it’s an episode that makes SO MUCH SENSE, bc Sam had seen Dean ripped apart by hellhounds before and clearly he just had to get between them and Dean this time.
What I like about the Trials arc is that it’s essentially Sam saving Dean’s life- bc Dean doing the trials would be a suicide mission- but while he’s saving Dean, Dean is in another capacity saving Sam (the trial sickness and all).
I’m totally with you on Man’s Best Friend. Okay, so I laughed at the bit where Sam was like, ‘She came in and wanted her belly scratched, can she stay?’, but I have a feeling that I shouldn’t have.
I disagree on Goodbye Stranger. Meg’s death was unceremonious, but I think it’d have been awful if they’d sentimentalised her death. Pastor Jim, Caleb, even their dad would be alive if it weren’t for her. I love the character, but I can’t get round that. I know a lot of people see GS as a Destiel episode, but I saw it as a Meg episode, though the crypt scene was awesome. I mean, ‘Save my unicorn.’ I teared up, seriously…
Taxi Driver wasn’t written by Jeremy Carver- it was Buckner & Leming. I think the cinematography, the sets, that was all gorgeous, but what an opportunity they missed. BOTH THESE GUYS HAVE BEEN TO HELL. HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT? They should have been WRECKED by the sheer idea of one of them going back there. And what was up with the timeline? And with Sam going down, like, two corridors before he found Bobby?
But Jeremy Carver wrote Sacrifice. Which is in my top 10 episodes of all-time.

  4. Lazarus Rising is only an honorable mention?! GAH! My favorite of all time.

    I love Its a Terrible Life..Dean Dean Dean……

Monster Movie is great too. Dean in Lederhosen?

Heaven and Hell-I have watched tis too many times to count…that sex scene kills me-perfect music for it too!

Yellow Fever also a great one-I really enjoyed how Sam tried to make Dean happy-Its HIGH! OK Ill get us a room on the ground floor.

Lucifer Rising -that scene with the phone call breaks my heart for Sam.

On the Head of a Pin is very hard for me to watch. I was so angry with Cas asking Dean to torture Alistair…UH not my favorite episode.

Uuuuugh. Don’t even TALK to me about that phone call. Seriously, we’re still waiting for a fix-it on that one… maybe in s11.
Yeah, I find OTHOAP difficult to watch. Not Cas’s finest hour… though he had a gorgeous closeup…

Sam and Dean’s relationship is my great love on SPN, but one of my favourite things about the show is how it lets guys be in meaningful, alarmingly touchy-feely relationships without putting it down to ‘oh, they must be fucking’.
