New character to appear in Supernatural

Could Amara really be conquered in season 11? Even though Emily Swallow’s portrayal of “The Darkness” as a sensual, destructive force does not appear in every episode of season 11, her performances are strong enough to sustain this arc throughout season 11. Supernatural often carries over the big bad from season to season. While all of the promotions for the final 4 episodes of the season seem to be leaning toward the Winchesters scoring a win if they find the correct combination of a chosen one and a weapon of God, there is no guarantee this arc will come to a climax this season. And while this arc speeds towards episode 23, the writers are about to introduce us to new character.

STOP here if you do not want spoiler information!!!!

Elizabeth Blackwell from another CW show( TVD) makes her appearance as an English lady who has much in common with Sam Winchester. Does she have several episodes in season 11  as an instrument in this darkness arc or is she  just introduced early so she can be the season 12 challenge?   Are we about to get a Sam centered story for season 12?  What elements could she share with Sam?

  • chosen by Azazel at 6 months
  • demon blood
  • belongs to a family of hunters
  • looking for something more permanent in a relationship but not marriage
  • younger sibling
  • super skills in research
  • suffered great loss
  • eats salad
  • knows Crowley
  • knows much lore
  • can she fix appliances
  • did she hit a dog(okay I am getting a bit silly here)

With whom does she form her allegiance?

I remember Sam asking Dean at the beginning of season 11 if Dean ever wanted something more, not marriage, but something more permanent with perhaps another hunter. Is this the route the writers are going? Would this storyline infer that Dean is absorbed by the Darkness and Sam needs a bf with benefits? Supernatural is still very much a story about the Winchesters so I for one am hoping for another path.

Is she a vehicle to for the writers to pick up a story like Bela Talbot’s from season 3? The writers’ strike cut that Dean love interest short. Not a fan of this route either.

Is she a character who can be part of a spin off? Unless Kim Rhoades and the other wayward daughters are there as part of it, I’d be hesitant.

Just tossing around these ideas. I have no inside scoop nor do I know the work of the actress who has been chosen other than she is a CW player.

Do you dare speculate? It doesn’t cost anything if you are off but it could be fun. Thoughts?

  1. I think the new character is a Woman of Letter. When I read the description in the article, it’s the first thing that popped in my head. Remember, the boys mention the European Chapter in “The Vessel”. I bet she’s a legacy. I would love it if she became the English Delphine Seydoux.

I was just talking about this with Maria, and I hope Amara survives season 11. For being such a huge menace with so much to do and all these big plans for Dean, she hasn’t had time to do much of anything (the way she dealt wit Lucifer was nice though. Someone really needed to shut him up).
I love Emily and I was hoping for so much more on the Deanmara front. This can’t all be over by the finale!

      1. She works perfectly-she loves the guys and they love her but she’s not a romantic interest, that’s why I am hoping that its true that the woman they are bringing in is a relative (so no romance). I mean who has time for romance with the darkness and Lucifer running around-seriously!

        1. A Winchester always has time for the physical act- no romance required. Proven in their history. Romance messes up the plot lines;-).
Can’t forget Sam’s comment in “Baby” after he had been with Piper in the back seat. THen Dean says about their domestic forays “Have you seen us?” Not the way the show is built and hope it doesn’t go that way.

  3. I hope she is a Woman of Letter’s and becomes their FRIEND. I have no desire for a love interest. The writers will botch that up real good and the fans will hate her. I want them to have more friends-not love interests at this stage of the game.

I see no chemistry with Amara and Dean at all!

  4. Dean did despise Bela however, there was a sexual tension between them that could not be developed fully due to the wrterrs’ strike. Season 3 is abbreviated. Who knows what “make up sex” would have ensued. Although, I would like to believe Dean might have refused her. Dean despises Amara and yet when the two are within kissing/absorbing distance, that sexual tension is palpable. Strong emotions(love or hate) can create that tension which is not always resolved.

    1. I agree there was sexual attraction between Dean and Bela. I’d like to think he wouldn’t have given in to it because he didn’t like her.

With Amara, I think it’s different. She has a supernatural hold over him that he fights. I really don’t see the tension or attraction between them. I’d like to like her as a character, but feel like she’s wasted potential. She just doesn’t give off the necessary charisma IMO. There’s no chemistry between them. Right up there with Amelia and Sam on my list of yawn inducing couples. Now, Dean and Abbadon? That would have been interesting.

        1. I don’t mean Dean and Abbadon in a romantic way. I have zero interest tin romance on the show, Dean and Abbadon in a dark scary way could be good storytelling.

I mean for those on the Amara/Dean train, they have to recognize it is non-con. The bond is supernatural — against his will. That’s not romance. That’s coercion.

      1. All those folks who have “hooked up” with someone they do not like- it happens. Not a logical explanation – it is supernatural. Consent is a big word when an angel takes over….what about Dean? He seems not able to resist her and she can’t harm him. Looks to be explosive. Ah Sammy..what took you so long?

  5. A. Bela was my first thought when you said English lady, and the writers do love a retread.

    B. Bela was never Dean’s love interest. She was everything he despised and an antagonist — a very good one.
